Autumn 1

THE SEASON OF PEACE AND TRANQUILLITY

The Autumnal Equinox this year is on Monday 23rd September, marking the start of Autumn and time for the leaves to fall.
But first they change their costumes for a final display of rich gold and crimson before gliding gracefully down to form a woven carpet of colour beneath our feet.

Autumn 2

Many people find Autumn a tranquil time of solitude and reflection, a season of pensive assessment and contemplation. Perhaps that’s why so many poets and writers have been inspired to write so beautifully about this romantic season.

Autumn 3

It brings to mind the beautiful song ‘Autumn Leaves,’ written in 1945 by French poet, Jacques Prevert, and translated into English by American song writer, Johnny Mercer.
Although it was a simple little song, it has over the years become a classic and has been recorded by the top artists such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Andy Williams, Edith Paif, Jerry Lee Lewis and many more.

This is it.

AUTUMN LEAVES

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sunburned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall
